I want to clear my driving record in Michigan, as someone told me that you could after a ticket. However, I’m not exactly sure where to start. What do I need to do to clear my driving record in Michigan?

It’s great that you’re looking into how to clean up your driving record! In 2008, Michigan passed legislative bill MCL 257.320d which allows Michigan residents to remove points from their license through a state-approved course. As long as you’re eligible, you can clear your driving record in Michigan—at least partially—by taking the **Basic Driver’s Improvement Course, or BDIC.
To be eligible for these courses, you must:
Have only one ticket from the incident in question. This doesn’t work for multiple tickets for the same incident
Have an infraction that resulted in three points or less on your license
Have only received a ticket for a civil infraction, not a criminal charge such as a felony or misdemeanor
To have the points removed, you must pass the four-hour class and pay a class fee, which is typically around $100. In addition to reducing the points on your Michigan driving record, the state will not pass along the ticket to your insurance company.
