How do you clean your driving record in Florida?
I’m starting a new job and they need to see my driving record. I’m worried that all the points I have racked up will cause a problem. How do you get points off your driving record in Florida?

There are two ways to clean up your Florida driving record. One way is to wait patiently for the points you racked up to expire. Traffic points in Florida stay on your driving record for 36 months. So, if you got a ticket for running a red light in December of 2019, the three points that got added to your driving record will be there until they expire in December 2022.
If you don’t want to wait around, you can have some of the points on your record wiped clean by completing a driver education course. To do that you must:
- Indicate your intent to attend a driver improvement course, either in person at the county clerk’s office or by mail if the citing officer gave you an envelope. Read the ticket carefully to ensure you take appropriate action before any deadlines.
- Pay your course fee. This is usually around $25.
- Check with the county clerk for specific requirements, and attend your course.
- Present your certificate of completion to the county clerk.
