Dipsticks are a tried and tested way to check your oil levels. But some newer cars have evolved to more elegant methods. Now you can follow these steps to check the oil in your BMW without making a mess:
First, park your car on level ground.
Then, turn it on and let it run for a minute.
Using your steering wheel controls, scroll through the display options beneath your gauges until you see the oil lamp symbol.
Press the BC button on your dashboard. You should see a small bar on the screen with a clock beneath it.
When the clock hands stop moving, you’ll be able to read your oil level!
