How do you change spark plugs on a 2003 Infiniti G35?
Last weekend, I picked up an Infiniti for a good price in a private sale. Now, I need to do some maintenance on it, which includes replacing the spark plugs. How do you change spark plugs on a 2003 Infiniti G35?

The basic steps you’ll need to follow are below, but consult your owner’s manual and block out a couple of hours for the project, particularly if this is your first time changing out spark plugs.
- Step 1: Be sure that you have all your supplies and tools, including new spark plugs (and perhaps new ignition coils), compressed air, screwdriver, spark plug socket, ratchet extender, anti-seize grease, and a torque wrench.
- Step 2: Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the engine cover.
- Step 3: Remove the air intake tubes.
- Step 4: The electrical harness restricts your ability to get to the spark plugs, so remove some of the bolts that hold the harness in place so that you can gently move the harness out of the way.
- Step 5: Disconnect each plug from each ignition coil, being careful to remember which coil goes to which plug.
- Step 6: Using compressed air, blow away any debris.
- Step 7: Loosen the spark plugs with your socket wrench and then unthread each one by hand and take them out.
- Step 8: Before installing the new spark plugs, apply a light coat of anti-seize grease to the threads.
- Step 9: Replace the spark plugs, torquing them as directed.
- Step 10: Place a bit of anti-seize grease on the tip of each ignition coil before replacing them.
- Step 11: Don’t forget to secure your wiring harness and replace your engine cover before reconnecting your battery.
