How do you change a headlight on a Nissan Altima?

My wife’s driver side headlight just went out, so I promised her I would replace it this weekend. Problem is, I’ve never done this before. How do you change a headlight on a Nissan Altima?

Ah, nothing says “I love you” more than a car repair project! Ok, so you may find some shortcut hacks that promise an easier way to change the headlight on her
Nissan Altima
, but be careful—you don’t want to damage your car.
The directions below follow standard procedures:
  • Make sure the engine is cool, so you won’t inadvertently burn yourself.
  • Lift and secure the hood. Then, locate the air box, which you will find on the driver’s side of the car.
  • Remove the bolt holding the air box in place. Then, loosen the clips holding the box together and remove the air filter. At this point, remove the airbox completely.
  • Now, you’ll be able to get to the back of the headlight assembly.
  • Carefully pull on the rubber gasket to pull out the wiring harness by turning it slowly counterclockwise.
  • Once you have unplugged the electrical connector, take out the old bulb.
  • Install the new bulb and attach the electrical connector again.
  • Put the wire harness back in by turning clockwise.
  • Before reinstalling the air filter and box, test her headlights to be sure the bulb is working.
Note: The passenger’s side headlight is a bit simpler to replace. It requires that you remove the radiator airflow container to get at the headlight assembly.
Sometimes, DIY car projects like replacing a lightbulb may take an hour or more. But did you know that shopping for affordable
