How do you change a cabin air filter in a Toyota Tacoma?
I’ve owned my truck for a few years now and the heat and air conditioning just aren’t blowing as strong as they used to. The cab of my truck has a bit of a musty smell, too. I want to change my cabin air filter but I’m not sure where to start. What's the easiest way to change the cabin air filter in a Toyota Tacoma?

A cabin air filter, much like the air filter that helps keep your engine running well, prevents unwanted pollutants and dirt from entering the cab of your truck. Replacing the cabin air filter is often overlooked but can help keep you healthy and make a noticeable difference in air quality, especially if you suffer from allergies.
To change the cabin air filter you will need a replacement filter and a flathead screwdriver. Once you’ve gathered your supplies, you will have to do the following:
- First, open the glove box and remove the glove box catch, which keeps the compartment in place. The glove box catch is connected at the top and bottom using plastic clips, so if you try to remove the glove box before removing the catch, you may snap the plastic clips.
- Then, squeeze both sides of the glove box and it should drop down away from the dashboard, giving you access to the cabin air filter behind it.
- Next, open the cabin air filter box using the tabs located on the box, remove the old filter, and install the new filter, making sure the arrows are pointed up.
- Finally, close the cabin air filter box so the tabs click into place, push the glove box back into the dashboard, and reinstall the glove box catch.
Once complete, and while your truck is on your mind, you should make sure you have a
