Thirty-one states require front license plates, and because Teslas don’t come with the front plate mount installed, drivers commonly overlook it. But that’s smart thinking to consider this before you take your Tesla for the inaugural spin.
If your Tesla came with a front license plate mount that requires drilling into the vehicle’s front end, consult the instructions provided with the mount or find instructions online for your specific model. If you’re not comfortable drilling into your vehicle, a Tesla showroom or mechanic can install it correctly for you.
If your Tesla came with a front license plate mount that uses adhesives, do the following:
Wash your vehicle’s front grille area thoroughly using car soap and water and then completely dry the area.
Locate precisely where you want to mount the license plate using the Tesla logo on the hood as a reference point to center the license plate frame.
Peel off the stickers covering the adhesive strips and carefully place the mount on your vehicle. Be careful as the adhesive is strong and adjusting it afterwards is problematic.
Firmly press and hold down the mount to ensure the adhesive strips are fully secured.
If your Tesla did not come with any front license plate mount, contact a local showroom to see if they can assist you or if they have front license plate mounts for sale.
