How do you adjust Jeep JK headlights?
Lately, whenever I’m driving my Jeep I notice other drivers flashing their lights at me. I’ve checked my headlight bulbs and they’re both working. Could this be an adjustment issue—and how do you adjust Jeep JK headlights?

If your headlights are out of adjustment, then it’s likely you’re inadvertently high beaming fellow drivers on accident—which would explain why people keep flashing their lights at you!
Your
Jeep
JK has two adjuster screws located on the upper outside rim of each headlight. You can use a small T15 Torx screwdriver to adjust the Jeep JK headlights by fixing the horizontal and vertical direction of your headlight’s beams. To do this, you’ll need:
- A tape measure
- Painter’s tape
- A cloth or rag
First, find a level surface opposite a wall. You’ll want your car as level as possible, and you can use the wall to help see your car’s beam pattern and adjust your headlights accordingly.
Then, use the measuring tape to measure the distance from the car to the middle of your Jeep’s headlight (for most standard Jeeps this will be about 36 inches, give or take). On the wall opposite your car, you’ll mark that same height with a piece of painter’s tape.
Then, park your car about 25 feet away from the wall and turn your headlights on.
Using your cloth or rag (or whatever else you have on hand), cover one headlight. Adjust the uncovered beam using your screwdriver: counterclockwise turns will lower the height of the beam, and clockwise turns will raise it. Make adjustments as needed until each beam aligns with the strip of tape marked on the wall.
And that’s it! Note that if you ever lift your jeep or install higher tires, you’ll likely have to repeat this process to readjust the beams again.
