I have a pretty significant chip in my BMW’s paint job. My girlfriend bought me some touch-up paint sticks to fix it. I’m not really sure how they work. What’s the best way to use BMW touch-up paint sticks?
Make sure the surface you are about to paint is cool and clean. To prep the area, consider washing it with dishwashing liquid or alcohol. Dry thoroughly.
Prepare the paint by shaking it back and forth for about 5 minutes. You’ll likely have two sticks of paint: one with a clear top and one with an opaque top. The opaque top is your base coat and the clear top is your topcoat.
For paint damaged by rock chips, apply the base paint in dabbing motions. For scratches, use light brush strokes.
Let your base coat dry for about an hour and then apply your clear coat in the same fashion.
Allow your clear coat to dry overnight.
Ideally, your paint should look brand new! If the chip in your car’s paint is still noticeable, visit a BMW service center or body shop that specializes in paint repairs to avoid any further damage.
