We are doing a flash mob dance for my sister’s bachelorette party. We need to get out of the car and into position without being seen in our costumes. How do I turn off the interior car lights with the door open?

What a cool idea! Every car is different, but all of them should have the option to shut off the dome light.
This may take some practice before the big day. Look around the interior of your car. The light switch should be on the ceiling or on the interior door. You may have the option to dim the light, or you may only have an on/off option.
Try opening and closing the door several times ahead of the event to make sure the light is off. If you have any trouble, check the owner’s manual of the car under interior lighting.
Remember that having the lights come on automatically when the door opens is a safety feature. Not only does it help the driver see, but it also alerts people that there will be a pedestrian walking in the dark so they know to keep an eye out for you. So make sure your flash mob stays safe and parks in a low-traffic area.
