I have a cat with a bit of a sassy personality. Whenever I try to take her anywhere, she refuses to get in her carrier, or if I do get her in it, she goes berserk. What are some tips to travel with a cat in a car without a carrier?

Cats are well-known for their sassy attitudes, so you shouldn’t be surprised that your cat is a bit ornery when you want to take her for a ride.
Use these tips to travel with a cat in a car without a carrier:
- Keep in mind that a carrier is always highly recommended for your safety and the safety of your cat. If you truly can’t fathom putting your cat in one, use a special harness or a basket with a blanket over it to secure your cat in place. Make sure whatever you use is properly secured and doesn’t move.
- Train your cat to embrace the carrier. Rather than simply give in to the cat’s demands, practice putting her in the carrier at home. This should help acclimate her to being in the crate for longer periods of time.
- Let your cat get used to the sound of the car and the engine. Sometimes, the carrier isn’t what they’re afraid of; it’s just the noises associated with driving.
