How do I transfer car insurance to another car?

I plan to trade in my car at the end of the month. I’d love to keep my same insurance, if possible. Can I transfer my car insurance to another car?

“When you trade in your car, your new car should automatically be covered under your
car insurance
policy—at least for a while.
Most states and insurance companies offer a grace period when drivers purchase a new car. If you have a current policy, your coverage will extend to the new car for 14 to 30 days, depending on where you live.
While there is a grace period, it’s better to add the new car as soon as possible. You’ll just need to contact your insurance company or log in to your online account and provide your new car’s vehicle identification number (VIN).
At that point, any coverage on your old vehicle will transfer to your new one. You can also adjust your coverage at this time (if you need to). For instance, if you’re financing your car, you’ll likely be required to carry
comprehensive
and
collision coverage
. So you may need to add these coverages on if they weren’t previously included on your policy.
