How do I temporarily pause my car insurance?

I'm going out of the country on work for three months. I'm going to a city with great public transit, so I won't need a car, or car insurance. However, I obviously still want my insurance to be in place when I get back. Is there any way to pause my car insurance coverage rather than cancel it?

companies won’t let you pause or suspend your car insurance. However, you do still have options to save money!
Since you’re going out of town on work, you should definitely ask your insurer if you’re able to pause your insurance first. The worst they can say is no!
If that’s the case, you can either lower your coverage to the state minimum to save money and keep paying, or you can cancel your coverage. The best plan is probably to keep paying, as canceling your coverage can result in a coverage lapse that can cause your premiums to soar when you return to the U.S.
No matter what you choose, you’ll likely need a new policy or provider once you return to the U.S. The easiest way to shop for insurance is with
