How do I stay centered when driving?

I tend to veer slightly out of my lane when I’m driving. No matter what I try to do, I can’t correct it. What are some tips to stay in your lane while driving?

Staying centered when driving isn’t an innate ability for many people. But if you apply a few of these tips, it should make it easier to avoid veering out of your lane:
  • Don’t look only at the vehicle in front of you. This may cause you to veer, especially if the other driver isn’t centered in their lane.
  • Limit
    distracted driving
by putting away your phone, avoiding texting, and using hands-free technology.
  • Keep your eye on the dotted center lane line.
  • Don’t grip the steering wheel so tight.
  • Focus on something well ahead of you, ideally about 10 to 15 seconds down the road. This should keep you centered, even if other cars are veering.
