How do I reset the oil life on a 2011 Honda Pilot?

I just took my 2011 Honda Pilot into the shop for an oil change, but my oil life still reads 50%. How can I reset the oil life on my 2011 Honda Pilot so it shows 100%?

Most mechanics won’t reset your oil life unless they’re Honda-certified. But don’t stress! It’s easy to change. To reset the oil life on a 2011
Honda Pilot
, follow these instructions:
  • Turn your key to the on position, but don’t start the engine
  • Press the trip button until you see oil life. This might take four presses of the button.
  • Hold the trip button until the oil life starts to flash. Release the button.
  • While the oil life is still flashing, hold the trip button again for about 10 seconds.
  • You should see your oil life go back to 100%.
In the future, make sure that you only reset the oil life following an oil change as part of your
routine maintenance schedule
. If you reset it randomly, you won’t know how much life is left in your oil, which may cause damage if you wait too long to get another oil change.
