How do I replace the rubber around my car's window?
The weather-sealing rubber along my window is getting loose. I live in Seattle, so I need to keep my car protected from the elements. How do I replace the rubber around my car's window?
Get a replacement strip of weatherstripping rubber. While you can buy a generic variety, getting your specific model’s factory-replacement is recommended. This will last longer and keep you from needing to repeat this process.
Remove any screws holding the old rubber in placer.
Then remove the stripping and peel away any remaining adhesive.
Clean and towel the area, then put down a line of fresh adhesive.
Install the new weatherstripping rubber on top of the adhesive, then replace any screws.”
