To replace the cruise control switch on a Ford F150, you need to remove some panels and harnesses in the steering column before installing the new part.
Here are some of the items you will need:
  • New cruise control switch
  • 8mm socket and ratchet
  • 8mm wrench
  • Pick
  • Flathead screwdriver
Start by disconnecting the battery. Then, you need to disarm your airbag. Do this by removing the plastic panel near your glove box to access the fuses. Use the fuse puller to remove the red 10 fuse.
Now, it’s safe to replace the cruise control switch on your Ford F150. Get access to the part by removing the circular plastic panels on both sides of the steering column, as well as the center component and harness. Once all the harnesses are free, you can pull out the old switches and install the new part by feeding it back through the holes in the paneling.
