How do I remove lipstick from car upholstery?
I was driving to work and putting on makeup at stoplights. Unfortunately, I dropped my lipstick tube onto the car seat and it stained the fabric. How can I remove a lipstick stain from my upholstery?

Putting on makeup in the car is common if you’re running late. But remember: it poses a danger to yourself, other drivers, and your car’s interior.
Since the damage is done, you can remove lipstick from car upholstery using a knife, rag, paper towels, rubbing alcohol, and degreaser.
To clean lipstick from your upholstery, follow these directions:
- Pick up any larger chunks with your fingers or a paper towel.
- Use a knife to scrape off the excess.
- Dab the stain with a clean paper towel to remove as much lipstick as possible. Avoid the urge to rub the stain, as this will push the stain further into your seat.
- Pour the rubbing alcohol onto a rag.
- Dab the stain with the alcohol-soaked rag.
- Spray degreaser onto the stain and dab with a rag to remove the rest of the stain.
In the future, try to avoid putting on lipstick while you’re behind the wheel.
