How do I put a 2019 Infiniti QX50 in neutral?
I just bought a used 2019 Infiniti. This is an awesome SUV and I’m really loving it so far, but there’s just one problem: I can’t figure out how to shift it into neutral when I’m at the car wash. Could you tell me how to put a 2019 Infiniti QX50 in neutral?

Congrats on your new-to-you Infiniti. We’re glad you’re enjoying it! And yes, the shifter in your QX50 is a little confusing at first—they really did try to reinvent the wheel there for some reason—but it’s a piece of cake once you get the hang of it.
By now, you already know how to shift into drive and reverse, pushing the electronic gear selector until it goes past the point of resistance and then releasing it. The trick to putting it in neutral is to move it forward or backward until you feel resistance and then release it without going past that resistance, without pressing the shifter button.
It’s a little funky at first, so it’s a good idea to practice somewhere safe before you get in line at the car wash. But just remember to not press the shifter button, and to let go when you feel resistance, not after you’ve already passed it. Knowing that, the process should be a lot easier for you.
