How do I put a 2008 Mazda CX-7 in neutral?

My 2008 Mazda CX-7 ran out of gas! I’ve got someone on the way to help, but we need to push it to the side of the road—how do I get it into neutral?

2008 Mazda CX-7
in neutral is simple:
  • If you have an automatic, simply move the gear selector to the N position.
  • If you have a manual transmission, just depress the clutch and slip your CX-7 out of gear. You might even give the stick shift a little wiggle just to be sure it’s disengaged.
Make sure your key is in the accessory position to keep the steering wheel unlocked and that someone is behind the wheel handling steering and braking as you move your car out of traffic.
