How do I pay less than $500 a month for car insurance?

My car insurance bill is $500 a month and I'm sick of overpaying for coverage. Aside from shopping around for quotes and getting the minimum coverage required, what else can I do to pay less for insurance?

First off, you can raise your deductible to lower your rate. Just make sure you have enough money set aside to pay the higher deductible if you have to make a claim.
Next, if you have an older car, you can reduce your coverage to pay less. For example, an older vehicle may not need
collision coverage
and/or [comprehensive coverage]( Comprehensive:

).
And lastly, ask which discounts you qualify for. There are a lot of them out there, including:
  • Bundling discount
  • Accident-free discount
  • Auto-pay billing discount
  • Low-mileage discount
  • Anti-theft device discount
