Inside the fuel door is the fuel cap, which you’ll need to slowly turn counterclockwise to remove it. If you open the DTS’s fuel cap too quickly, you risk causing fuel to spray out from the tank, which is a fire hazard. The fuel cap is tethered to the gas tank by a cord that you can hook onto the fuel door while you pump gas.
After you fill up, replace the fuel cap by tightening it clockwise until you hear it click, then firmly shut the fuel door. If your Cadillac DTS senses that the fuel cap isn’t tightened correctly, a “Tighten Gas Cap” warning message will display on the vehicle’s Driver Information Center (DIC).
