I just bought a vintage (2007) Audi A4. It feels pretty modern, but there are some things I’m still unsure about. For example, how do I open the gas tank?
First, make sure your A4 is unlocked and turned off.
Locate the fuel door near the rear passenger side door.
Press and release the left corner of the fuel door. It should pop open.
You’ll see the gas tank cap inside. Simply twist the cap counterclockwise to open it.
Place the cap on the fuel door hitch to keep it out of the way.
From there, you can begin refueling your vehicle. Afterward, we recommend waiting five seconds before removing the gas nozzle to allow all the excess oil to drip into the gas tank. Once you remove the nozzle, simply twist the gas cap clockwise to put it back on and press the fuel door closed.
Audi recommends using Premium fuel in your A4. It may be pricier than Regular, but using the incorrect type of fuel can damage your Audi over time—so we recommend following their advice!
