How do I make my own car seat cover for my dogs?

My dogs shed all over the interior of my car—I love them, but it's definitely becoming a nuisance, especially since I like keeping my car clean. I want to get a car seat cover, but they seem a little pricey. I'm pretty handy with a sewing machine, but I just don't know what fabric or pattern I would use. Is there any way I can make my own?

“It’s good that you have some sewing skills—that’s exactly what you’ll need to make a car seat cover! Here’s how to do it:
  • Get a quilt or a blanket and drape it in the backseat. It should cover the entire backseat as well as the back of the front seats.
  • Mark on the blanket where the seat belts are so you can cut holes.
  • Create ties on both sides of the blanket (two on each side) by sewing on fabric. You can attach these to the front headrests and rear headrests.
  • If you’re feeling extravagant, sew in a pillowcase for added comfort for your pooch!
Keep in mind that you should still keep your dog restrained somehow. An energetic dog can become a distraction, which is one of the top causes of
