How do I make a Rolls-Royce with cardboard?

My son saw a video on YouTube the other day of a guy playing with a Rolls-Royce he’d made out of cardboard. He was so excited about it that I really want to make him one now. I’m not terribly crafty though, so how do I go about this?

Making a Rolls-Royce with cardboard might seem like a challenge, but all you need is a good template, an exacto knife, some strong clear glue, lightweight aluminum foil or silver leaf, acrylic paint, and paintbrushes. If you want to get really fancy, you can get some thin clear plastic for the windows as well.
  • Start by choosing the template for the Rolls you want to build—you can find these online. Size the template up or down depending on how big you want your finished car to be and then trace your pieces onto the cardboard. Note that the smaller you want your car, the lighter-weight cardboard you’ll need to use to ensure your corners aren’t too bulky.
  • For the metallic pieces, like the grille, wheels, and window trims, glue foil or affix silver leaf to the cardboard before cutting out the template pieces. If you really want to simplify things, you can just use a metallic gel or paint pen.
  • Once you’ve glued all the pieces together, let it dry for at least a few hours depending on the type of adhesive you used, then paint it with your choice of acrylic paint colors.
And there you have it—your very own Rolls-Royce! Now that you’ve given your son such a great gift, treat yourself to the gift of
