How do I know what my insurance will cover if I'm in an accident?

"I hit another car and left the scene without calling the police. I did go to the police station afterwards, but got a ticket for failure to report and leaving the scene.

Whose insurance will cover the damage? I have liability and the other driver has full coverage."

“Whether your insurance or the other driver’s insurance covers the damage depends on who is determined to be at fault.
If you’re at fault, your
liability car insurance
will cover the other driver’s vehicle or any injuries up to your policy limits. Anything that exceeds your policy limits will have to be paid out of pocket by you.
Since you don’t have
collision insurance
, you’d also be responsible for fixing the damage on your vehicle.
If it’s determined that the other driver is at fault, their insurance would cover your damage and/or injuries. Their full coverage is only for damage done to their vehicle when they’re at fault.
If you haven’t already done so, you need to let your insurance company know you were in an accident. They can help determine fault and give you more information on coverage.”
