How do I get on someone else's insurance?

My cousin said that they would add me to their insurance. How do I get on their insurance?

Your cousin needs to contact their
car insurance company
to add you as a driver.
While some car insurance companies allow you to add drivers online, others require you to call.
When adding you to their policy, your cousin will need your:
  • Full name
  • Driver’s license number
  • Date of birth
  • Vehicle identification number or VIN
  • Social Security number
Their insurance company may ask for additional information, including your driving history and whether you’ve been in any accidents.
After adding you to the policy, your cousin will receive their new rate. Should they be unhappy with their new rate, you can try shopping around. Every insurance company offers different rates and you may be able to find a lower rate elsewhere.
