Is there an easy way for me to get off my parents’ car insurance? I'm 21 and trying to become more independent. I want to get off of my parents' car insurance, but I don’t really know how to do it.

“I completely understand your desire to be independent. All you need to do to get off your parents’ insurance is call the insurance company and ask them to remove your name from the policy. But it probably won’t be a good idea if you’re under 25.
Insurance for young drivers is significantly more expensive than it is for adults. Plus, an independent policy for a young driver could cost double what it does when you’re on someone else’s policy. If you’d really like to start being independent, it’s wise to find ways to save on your current policy. Here are a few tips to get you started:
Maintain a high GPA for a good student discount.
Take a safe driving course for a safe driver discount.
Ask your parents about dropping excessive coverage.
Track your driving for a good driver discount.
It’s much better to stay on your parents’ policy than it is to risk driving
or the coverage you need. But if you really feel like you need your own policy, be sure to shop around and compare quotes. Your first offer probably won’t be your best, so look around before you settle on a provider.
If you’d like help shopping around for the best rate, try using
app. A licensed broker, the Jerry app can help you find and compare quotes from the top insurance provider for free. That way, you can be sure you’re getting the best deal on the coverage you need.”
