How do I get my driving record in California?

I want to get my driving record to see what’s on it, as I recently noticed a sizable increase in my car insurance premiums. However, I’m not sure how to do it. How can I get my driving record if I live in California?

To get your driving record in California, you can go online, use traditional mail, make a phone call, or head to the DMV. Regardless of which one you choose, here’s how to do it:
  • Print out the INF 1125 form, include the $5 payment, and mail it to: DMV Information Release Unit MS G199 PO Box 944247 Sacramento, CA 94244
  • Call 1-916-657-8098 and have the record mailed to you.
  • Go to the DMV and fill out an INF 1125 form.
  • Go to the DMV’s
    Driver’s Record Request page
and provide your information. Pay the $2 fee for an unofficial record or $5 for an official record.
Each of these options requires a $5 payment by credit card, money order, or cash (in-person DMV visits only).
