How do I get an impounded car back in GTA V online?
I just had one of my favorite cars impounded on GTA V online. How do I get it back?

With all of its car chases, carjackings, and general car-related shenanigans, it’s only a matter of time before every player will need to know how to get an impounded car back in GTA V online. Luckily, it’s a fairly easy process that can be completed in three ways.
The first is the most GTA appropriate—steal it back:
- Yeet yourself over the back fence of the impound
- Take back what’s yours
If you want to keep it more legit, pay the impound fee:
- Head to the impound and walk up to the gate
- When prompted, click the button to pay the impound fee (usually $250)
- Presto—your car’s out. This is a little vanilla for us, but, hey, you do you
Finally, for those who just cannot be bothered—call your assistant and make them get it for you:
- Select your assistant’s contact from your smartphone
- Select the “retrieve from impound” option
- Magic—your car’s back in your personal garage
