How do I get a loan for a vintage Thunderbird?

I want to buy a 1966 Ford Thunderbird, but I don't have the cash to pay for it. Can I get a car loan for a classic car?

A 1966 Thunderbird? What a sweet ride! I’m happy to say that while not all lenders provide classic car financing, some do. You just need to shop around to find the right lender willing to give you a
loan
.
Once you’re ready to apply for a car loan, use these tips to increase your chances for approval:
  • Save for a down payment of 10% to 20%
  • Check your credit score and pay off any revolving credit or delinquent accounts.
If you have good credit and steady income, lenders should approve your loan. Keep in mind that the car needs to be in good to great condition to garner consideration for a car loan as well. The stipulations may also require you to have a second car for regular driving or a maximum amount of mileage you can put on the Thunderbird in a year — usually 5,000 to 7,000 miles or less.
After you’ve applied for the loan, don’t forget about
classic car coverage
. Lenders will require this coverage for the loan, and it’s a specialized insurance product that will protect your investment.
