How do I fix a fuse in my car?
The electrical components of my car have been on the fritz since yesterday, and I think a faulty fuse is to blame. I know it’s cheaper to repair a fuse yourself than going to a professional. How do I fix a fuse in my car?

If your car’s electrical components are on the fritz, it’s likely a fuse has blown—which is what it’s supposed to do if it senses too much voltage surging through your electrical system.
You can fix a fuse in your car yourself, but don’t proceed unless you know exactly what to do. If you need help, just take the car to a mechanic.
To fix the fuse in your car:
- Locate the car fuse box and remove the cover. Refer to the owner’s manual if you don’t know where to find the fuse box
- Probe the test ports of each fuse. If the light does not illuminate, the fuse is blown
- Replace the blown fuse. Pull the old fuse with your fingers or needle-nose pliers and replace it with a new one
