How do I find out what car insurance company someone has?
Is there any way for me to figure out what car insurance company someone else has? I got into an accident the other day, and I didn’t write down which insurance provider the other driver had. I tried asking them over text, but they still haven’t answered.

Dealing with providers after an accident can be tricky, especially when you don’t have all the information. Luckily, there are a few ways you can figure out which insurance company someone else uses.
You could request the driver’s information from the police. But before they approve your request, you’ll need to:
- give a statement about the accident.
- provide them with information about the other driver.
- tell them the other driver’s license plate number.
Your local DMV can also help you in this situation, but you’ll need to give them a verifiable reason for the request. The DMV may deny your request if you provide inaccurate or outdated details, so make sure your paperwork is meticulous.
Your best and easiest option is to go through your insurance company. If you have the license plate number, your provider can find the other driver’s insurer and take care of the
