I’m sorry to hear about your accident!
There are a few things you need to do first when you are a part of an accident. You need the following from the other driver:
- Their name
- Their address
- Their driver’s license number
- Their insurance policy
- Their plate number
- Photos of the damage to the cars/property
Next, you should call the police. You will probably have to file a police report, and you will need a copy of this for your insurance.
Then, you should get a quote from a mechanic for the damages to your car. Your insurance agency will also want this information. You should also go to a doctor or see a physician as soon as possible to check for injuries you might not have noticed because of the adrenaline from the accident.
Contact your insurance company. They’re going to want to know all the information you collected
as soon as possible
. They, like the police, will try to determine who was at fault. You then wait for the other insurance company to determine whether they also think their policyholder was at fault. You shouldn’t have to contact their insurance agency, it’s the other party’s duty to do so. Your company will also contact them for you.
