How do I delete a Bluetooth device from a Honda Civic?

I just purchased a used Honda Civic from a private owner and I want to pair my phone to the Bluetooth system. However, the previous owner’s phone is in the system. How can I delete a Bluetooth device from a Honda Civic?

Congratulations on your new purchase. Having someone else’s phone in your
Honda Civic’s
Bluetooth won’t hurt anything, but if you’re meticulous, deleting it is simple. Follow these steps to delete a Bluetooth device from a Honda Civic:
  1. Turn the radio on.
  2. Press the phone button icon located just to the right of the radio screen.
  3. Select Phone Setup. 4, Use the radio dial to scroll down until you find System Clear.
  4. Choose Bluetooth Setup.
  5. Use the radio dial again to scroll down until you find Delete Device.
  6. Once you select it, choose Yes on the confirmation screen to delete the old owner’s Bluetooth pairing.
Once you’ve deleted the old phone, use the phone setup screen to pair your phone. Once paired, the Honda Civic allows you to use the Bluetooth system for speech-to-text and hands-free calling.
