How do I correct a skid while driving?
I recently moved from Florida to Montana for a new job. While I’m excited, I’ve never driven in harsh weather before, especially snow and ice. I want to become a better driver so I don’t have any issues. How can I correct a skid while I’m driving?

! Driving in harsh weather is tricky, but you’ll get it down in no time.To correct a skid while driving, follow these steps:
- Take your foot off the accelerator.
- Resist the urge to slam on the brakes.
- Once you have a mild amount of control, steer into the skid gently.
- Don’t over-correct or oversteer into the skid.
- If necessary, find a safe place to pull over to take a quick breather.
You can also do a few things to avoid skidding altogether, such as:
- Checking your tire pressure regularly
- Staying home in overly harsh weather
- Going slow enough for the conditions presented
- Avoiding sudden movements or sudden braking
- Following at a safe distance
