How do I clean up my driving record in Louisiana?
I just received a speeding ticket the other day—my first one ever. A friend of mine who lives out of state told me that I can clear my driving record by taking a defensive driving class, but I’m not sure if that’s correct. How can I clean up my driving record in Louisiana?

Unfortunately, you can’t do anything to clean up your driving record in Louisiana. Louisiana does not use a points system on its license, so there’s nothing to remove from your license—as a result, the state doesn’t offer any defensive driving classes or other opportunities to clear your driving record.
The only true way to clean up your driving record in Louisiana is to keep your driving record clean from the start. However, traffic violations will eventually fall off your record in three to ten years. Avoid any accidents, tickets, DUIs, and other infractions, and you should eventually have a sparkling record that keeps your car insurance rates down.
