Generally, you should check the tire pressure monitoring system on your Kia Forte any time you suspect there might be a problem.
One important thing to note, though, is that a tire’s pressure can be too low, even if it doesn’t visibly look like it, so it’s important that you
check each of your tires’ pressure levels
if you haven’t already. If you don’t have a tire pressure gauge
of your own, many gas stations make them available to use.Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to check the tire pressure monitoring system on your
Kia Forte
:- If you’re able, you can use multiple tire pressure gauges to check your vehicle’s tire pressure and compare them to the readings your own Kia Forte gives. While different conditions could give you slightly different readings, if they’re relatively similar, it might be easier to tell whether your Kia Forte’s TPMS light is on for a good reason.
- If you recently adjusted your Kia Forte’s tire pressure, the TPMS might need time to reset itself. How and when it does so can vary depending on the vehicle and model year, but it’s often automatic after driving a certain distance at a certain speed. On a Kia Forte, that might be at about 50 mph for at least 10 minutes.
- If your TPMS hasn’t reset, you might have to do somanually. These steps can also vary by model year but are typically outlined in your owner’s manual.

It’s possible a faulty sensor or a different problem somewhere in the system could be preventing the light from turning off—and you want to be able to heed your TPMS light’s warning when it does come on, not second-guess it.
