How do I charge an electric car in Vermont?

I’ve been planning a winter trip to Vermont for months. I still have many more to go until I can leave since I plan on going this winter, but I drive an electric Hyundai Ioniq 5. I’m curious about how to charge an electric car in Vermont—I’m headed there from New York and wasn’t sure if the regulations or availability of chargers would be different.

In Vermont
, most of the charging ports that you’ll come across are going to require payment. And just like in New York, you’re going to pay more for a faster charging time, between $1/hr for a Level 2 charger, and about $.35/minute with a Level 3 fast charger. This is more expensive than some other states, but Vermont also has a wide variety of charging port network companies. Some of the most popular networks in Vermont include:
  • Blink Network
  • EVgo
  • SemaCharge
  • Greenlots
  • ChargePoint
  • Electrify America
This wide variety in the state of Vermont not only helps keep prices competitive, but also increases the general amount of ports, too. The state is also looking to expand its resources so that drivers will never have to go more than 30 miles between charging ports, which could be a huge step for the state in terms of renewable energy use.
If you’re going to get really prepared, consider downloading Plugshare, an app available for Apple and
Android users
which helps you filter out charging ports by your car model, as well as their location, charging speed, and much more.
This simple app might save you time, resources, and stress. And
