How do I change the transmission fluid in a Honda Odyssey?

My mechanic told me I need to change my transmission fluid—and soon. I’ve done my own oil change before, and I feel that I could get this done as well. But before I start, I want to be sure I know what I’m doing. What’s the process to change the transmission fluid on my Honda Odyssey?

Conveniently, changing your transmission fluid is a lot like changing your oil. The steps are very similar.
In order to change the transmission fluid in your
Honda Odyssey
, follow these steps:
  1. Buy transmission fluid at an auto parts store.
  2. Use a car jack behind the front wheel on the driver’s side.
  3. Put your drain pan under the plug, then use a 3/8-inch ratchet to remove the plug. Allow several minutes for the fluid to fully drain.
  4. Clean off the drain plug before putting it back. Tighten it fully, then remove all tools and the drain pan from beneath the car.
  5. Open your hood
and locate the filler plug on top of the transmission. Use a 17-mm socket and a 15-inch extension to remove the plug.
  6. **Pour the fresh fluid ** into the transmission with a funnel, then replace the filler plug.
Since you were able to change your transmission fluid on your own, you just saved yourself the cost of going to the mechanic. If you’re interested in
