How do I change my DOB on my driver's license?
I just received my new driver’s license because my old one expired. After looking it over, I noticed that the date of birth (DOB) is incorrect. Should I correct my birthday on my driver’s license?

How frustrating! The good news is that you can change the DOB on your driver’s license by going to the DMV. Your incorrect birthdate was likely the result of a clerical error. But with supporting documentation, fixing it shouldn’t be an issue.
Most states have a similar process for correcting your birthday on your driver’s license. But you’ll want to search online or call to confirm your state’s specific requirements.
Typically, you’ll need to visit your local DMV and bring:
- The incorrect driver’s license
- The original copy of your birth certificate, which is usually marked with an embossed seal
- Supporting documents to prove your identity, such as a passport, Social Security card, or utility bill
Once you arrive at the DMV, just tell the clerk what happened. They should give you the proper form to fill out. After verifying your identity and providing the required documentation, you should be issued a new license with the correct DOB.
