How do I change my car insurance address when moving states?
I'm moving across the country to California in about a week, and I know I need to change my car insurance address. But I have so much to do, and it's all so overwhelming! How do I get started on changing my car insurance address when I'm moving to a new state?

That is a lot on your plate! To change your car insurance address, it’s a good idea to start off by contacting your insurance carrier to confirm that they offer coverage in California and notify them about the
out-of-state move
. Most states offer 30 to 90 day grace periods between moving and updating your information, but you’ll have to check with the California DMV to see exactly how much time you have. During this period, you will need to:

- Register your vehicle in California. In order to do this, you’ll likely need:
- Your license
- Proof of insurance
