How do I change my car insurance address?

I'm finally moving out of my hometown, and I'm pretty sure I need to change my address with my insurance provider. With everything else involved with moving, though, it feels exhausting, and I don't know where to start. How do I change the address on my car insurance?

First, congratulations on the move! To update your address, you’ll need to call your insurance carrier to notify them of the change. Some insurance companies will also allow you to change your address online or on the carrier’s mobile app.
You may be asked the following questions:
  • What is your new address?
  • Where will your vehicle be kept?
  • How far do you drive to get to work?
  • How many miles do you anticipate driving the car per year?
  • Will there be any new household residents?
Remember to change the address on your license since that should be the same as the one on your insurance!
Sometimes address changes can cause your insurance premium to
