How do I Adjust My Windshield Wipers?

My windshield wipers have been making squeaking and chattering sounds when I’ve been using them lately, even when I use them in pouring rain or with lots of windshield wiper fluid. I think they need to be adjusted. Do you know how to adjust windshield wipers?

We’re sorry to hear you’re having difficulties with your windshield wipers! To adjust your windshield wipers, you’ll need to follow a few simple steps to manually reposition them.
Here’s what to do:
  • Turn your car on without starting the ignition, so that only the accessories are running.
  • Switch on your windshield wipers and turn them off when they reach the bottom of your windshield. This is called the park position.
  • Lift each wiper blade off of the windshield and let the blade fall, hitting the windshield glass. This action readjusts each blade’s tension, helping it glide more smoothly.
  • Find the park lines for each blade on your windshield. These look like small horizontal lines. Make sure each blade parks within a quarter-inch of this park line. Reposition the blade to this parked position if it doesn’t park in this position.
Making sure your windshield wipers are working properly is an important part of staying safe while driving, but the best way to make sure you’re covered is by signing up for great
