How do electrical fires start in cars?
I just bought a new car and I’ve heard that cars can have fires. I’m a bit scared so I wanted to know how do electrical fires start in cars?

We understand car fires are scary, but there are some things you can do to help prevent them. Many electric fires in vehicles are caused by electric system failure.
According to an article Action Towing, the most common causes for car fires is an electric system failure. The electric system runs through the entire vehicle and so an ill-set wire could cause a spark and cause serious damage.
Every car has a 12-volt battery to power the windows, windshield wipers, and start the engine. While charging, the battery can produce hydrogen gas which, if caught by a spark will cause an explosion. To protect against this, devices like fuses and circuit breakers can help increase safety.
Sometimes an explosion isn’t caused by the engine, but electric failures in power windows or seats can ignite floor carpets or any forgotten things under the seats. Try to keep your car clean and not have paper or towels stuffed into hidden corners as this may pose more of a risk.
Make sure to have a reputable auto mechanic do regular checkups on your vehicle, and replace or install any parts. As long as your car is in good working condition, then you should be safe!
