The nostalgia of younger days! Electric car windows are powered by an electric 12-volt battery with switches and wires.
Similar to any circuit, there is a battery, an output source, and wires to connect them. Cars are much more complex but this is a simplified version of it.
The driver’s door has a circuit breaker that does just that: reconnects or breaks the circuit. All of the windows are connected here and hence the driver can have control over all the windows at any time.
There are different types of window functions available in modern vehicles:
Manual up/down: this is the standard raising or lowering of a window by clicking and holding a button. This feature replaced the winding technology
Courtesy Power-On: this feature is available in some cars and allows you to roll up your windows even when the key is out of the ignition. This feature typically only works if you haven’t yet opened your car door.
Automatic up/down: this feature allows the window to move up or down without having to hold the button down. Not all vehicles have this feature, and it is important to be aware of the automatic up as the window will not stop until it is closed so it can cause potential danger to fingers, paws, or any other parts that may find themselves outside the window.
