How can we watch a drive-in movie without draining our car battery?

I’ve been to a few drive-in movies with friends over the past couple of years, and I’ve seen a lot of people’s batteries die during the movie. My partner and I are going to a drive-in this weekend, and I really don’t want that to happen to us. What’s the best way to avoid draining our car battery at the drive-in?

Drive-in movies are an awesome way to get out with friends and family! But they can certainly take a toll on your car battery.
Here are some tips to help you watch a drive-in movie without draining your car battery:
  • Let your car idle, recharging the battery, before you shut it off.
  • Disconnect anything that may be draining power, like subwoofers or amplifiers.
  • Bring a portable radio to get the movie sound and turn your car off completely.
  • Get a new car battery.
  • Turn off all of your car’s lights.
These tricks should keep your car battery from dying. If you’re really worried, you may benefit from trying a combination of them. If your battery ends up dying anyway, make sure you have a pair of jumper cables in the car so that a fellow movie-goer can help you get back on the road.
To protect yourself from dead batteries and more, consider getting a roadside assistance membership.
Jerry
offers a modern roadside assistance membership. Along with traditional benefits, you get Uber-like tracking for the status of your service and the ability to contact your service provider directly for as low as $4.16 a month.
