How can my auto insurance carrier change my rate after the policy started?
I started my policy with Allstate a month ago. The price was great at first, but I just got an email saying my rate is going up $450 due to a ticket they found on my record. That was from two years ago. Why didn't they tell me about this earlier?

“It is very unfortunate when the price of the policy changes after it is issued, but it can happen. Insurance carriers have up to 60 days to change the price of the policy if they discover new information.
Sometimes this can happen if the motor vehicle reports were delayed in returning information. If they had the wrong driver’s license or number, or if the name of a driver was misspelled, the insurance company might not have been able to order the reports until the policy was issued.
