Since my youngest child has moved out, I now have a car that I no longer have a use for. I tried to sell it to a dealership but their offer seemed incredibly low. I’m in no rush to sell it and feel I may have better luck selling it privately. How can I sell a car privately in Oklahoma?

To sell a car privately in
Oklahoma
you will need to provide the appropriate paperwork to the buyer and do the following:- Find the title to the vehicle and complete the backside of the document to assign it to the buyer. Both you and the buyer must sign the document in the presence of a notary.
- Release any liens on the vehicle. Once complete, you will have to provide evidence to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
- Register the vehicle and be sure to provide the current registration to complete the title registration. The old registration will be canceled once the application is complete.
- Complete an odometer disclosure statement if the vehicle is a 2011 model or newer.
- Complete a bill of sale, purchase contract, or Declaration of Vehicle Purchase Price for proof of purchase price.
