How can I replace the battery in my 2016 Toyota 4Runner key fob?
I’ve had my 2016 Toyota 4Runner for about four years. I’ve never had an issue with my key fob. But recently, I’ve noticed I can’t unlock my car from a distance. Sometimes, my fob won’t work at all! I’m assuming it’s time for a battery change. What’s the easiest way to replace a battery in a 2016 Toyota 4Runner key fob?

Car key fob batteries typically last three to four years, so yours is reaching the end of its battery life. Luckily, the process to change the battery is very simple. To change the battery of your 2016
Toyota 4Runner
key fob, follow these steps:- Separate the manual key from its housing by inserting a flathead screwdriver into the notch at the bottom of the key fob.
- Pry off the back cover of the key fob with the screwdriver.
- Gently remove the control unit from the key fob.
- Remove the plastic covering from the control unit to access the battery.
- Lift out the old battery and replace it with a new one. If you aren’t sure what type of battery you need, check your owner’s manual or the back of the battery itself.
- Press each of the components of the key fob back together in the order that you removed them.
